The uterus, as the center of the feminine reproduction system, has been subjected to pathologization throughout the history of western medicine. For instance, doctors in as early as the 18th century have claimed that involuntary movements in the womb were the cause for hysteria. Then as today, medical means are used to surveil and regulate the uterus, and thus to restrict the 'monster within’.

Uteria is a personal experiment in the demythologisation of this organic, yet social, field.
